Hi Viv,

Nice to see you are equally charming in video form and in blog form. I completely agree that men (or women) who make their racial preferences explicitly known (a la Craigslit) come off as creepy.

"You want some Mexican in you?" Really? He could at least have gone with a Super Burrito joke. Geez.

Blog on, lady.

Yeah, where does he meet girls? If he's at the Asian clubs and no girls like him, it's probably the same at the clubs where the girls aren't Asian. And at the other clubs, everyone is just various shades, partially depending on the lighting and the time of year. One New Year's, I was my whitest winter white, and noticed in the bathroom all the other girls were tan. I thought they all went to the tanning bed, then I realized that was just their natural color. And did you know I'm one quarter hispanic? : )

hiyee lisa! i like your perspective on how the problem isn't "his people"...it's just him. i never know how to properly answer the race question; i don't think there even is a proper answer...especially because there are so many mixed races nowadays. i've had boys put their race straight out on the table, "you know i'm ______" and then wait for my answer/reaction, which goes something like, "ohhhhkayyy, and ???"

why thank you for the beautiful compliments chris! the whole experience was a lot of fun, and i'm sure some of the things the boys said were partially for entertainment's sake — i'm definitely not the next oprah or tyra. for the moment, i'm quite content penning my autobiography from behind my computer. hope your new year's was superfragilisticexpialidocious!

The foul mouthed guy came off as stupid. I can't imagine girls of any race wanting to date him. Guys like that, "Why won't _____ girls date my people?"- Usually the problem is not his people, it's just him. Looked like the other guy liked you though.

Viv, You need to host one of these shows. These poor slobs (at least the one on the left) don't have the kind of quick wit that you need as a host. Your "Are you offering?" was a great response, and dude was not processing like you were going to be actually engaged. He slipped from bantering host to his own personal opinion IMHO. It is a gift to be able to elicit Freudian slips. Mental script says Asian girl will be shy, caught off-guard, and defensive; go to follow-up question... Better to preemtively discover than to find out halfway through an adventure date with no escape, ya know? It could easily turn the date into the Ray Liotta "No Escape," and that's not as fun as it sounds.

You'll be just fine in this world, you just need time for the right guy to stumble into your path :) Happy New Year, and I hope you cross paths with mister Viv in 2010 (or tonight!).
