I've heard of King of Leons. I like this cover The Bamboos did for one of their songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMYQNIwH8Es

i don't know if it's objective, but ipone DOES have an app to rate beauty:

there's no rhyme or reason to this numbering madness, chris! they just stroke their chin like a kung-fu master, squint an eye, and exclaim a number...so random.

but which article are you talking about? at first i thought you were referring to the article number, but WTANGISF hasn't written to #49 yet. but i enjoy that blog...very entertaining. those people @ OKCupid are insane, they have numbers on EVERYTHING! i'm sure the wizard of oz behind that curtain is a die-hard mathematician.

I've always wondered if there is an objective way to rate a person's appearance, a la figure skating. Nose shape: 4.8, eye proximity: 5.2, body-mass-index: 5.9, etc. Of course we must realize that there will always be a dirty "French Judge" (figure skating reference, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Olympic_Winter_Games_figure_skating_scandal) to throw things off kilter with personal preferences.

Just like the Canadians Sale and Pelletier must have realized, there will always be someone to tell you that you are not good enough, to share entirely subjective views under the seemingly objective guise of meaningless and arbitrary numbers.

Hold you head up, Viv. Cognizant of the ridiculousness of the numerical system, you're already ahead of the pack.

P.S., King's of Leon's "Because of the Times" helped me through bad relationships and bad college courses alike.

How and when does one get rated? Is there a standardized test? Do you go in a reverse police-lineup and have random people look you over then aggregate the results?

I had to check out your interview with the idiot latinos again... You were robbed. 3 is just plain wrong. A 3 is untoasted Wonder Bread. You're more of a multigrain, I'm guessing a little nutty, but very satisfying for the more sophisticated palate.

A question, based on your SDSU experience, do you think that the WTANGISF 49er article holds water? It seems like one of the site's weaker efforts. A better one was the NorCal-SoCal rivalry post, especially since "Orenthal Jay" and some angry ladies chimed in. Another interesting read is the following one from the OKCupid folks, showing that guys have pretty unrealistic expectations of themselves:
http://blog.okcupid.com/index.php/2009/11/17/your-looks-and-online-dating/

I shudder to think where I really rank. My dog likes me though, and she's cute...

Hahaha I liked #3 on UD:

"A really hot viet girl that is liked by all the guys
Damn look at that ass! SHE SO HOT. She must be Vivian!"

Unrelated -- that Kings of Leon blurb was crazy:

"Kings of Leon. Embrace your inner perve and channel the voice of a god consumed with sex."

I have to go check 'em out after reading that. Are they as good as that?

Yeah, no person should be put on a scale. What ever happened to the age old saying, "don't judge a book by its cover?" I suppose on a subconscious level, we're always drawn to that shiny book in the new releases section, but doesn't mean you can't find a good read in the bargain bin either, haha! *my poor attempt at an analogy*

btw, I lol'd at your urban dictionary plug ;P
